Marissa decided to take the day off while Jerry took us on a tour of Crooked Creek. The lakes are so pretty and calm.
Lucinda took this amazing photo of the lake.
We also saw a giant patch of thistle! Luckily Marissa wasn't there to see the blanket of intruders. However, Jerry did say TNC is planning to burn the preserve to kill off the invasive species. Yay!
We then returned home for leftover pizza for lunch. After lunch, Jerry came to pick us up and we met up with Allison to work in her corn field. We looked for small shoots, baby ears of corn, between the stem and leaves.
We found a grasshopper!
We finished earlier than expected and got home early to prepare for our giant potluck. It was pretty hectic while we tried to finish cooking all the dishes and cleaning up. By the time the potluck started, Jerry and Sarah bailed on us! We had so much food so we invited the international interns and Pat invited Laurie Lawlor!
Here's a list of the people who came and the food they brought.
Ellen Chocolate Cake
Spencer Caramel Brownies
Catherine Muffins and Artichoke/Spinach dip
Kelly Parmesan Bread
Debbie and Jeff A lot of dips (sour cream with toppings, guacamole, cheese spread)
Pat Pie in a bag, cookies
Laurie Quinoa
Allison Quinoa
International Interns *came later and we didn't need anymore food
We made:
- Baked Ziti -Mashed Potatoes
-Pulled Pork -Barbequed Veggie Skewers
-Cream Cheese and Pesto Stuffed Chicken
-Korean Scallion Pancakes -Yapingachos
-Yellow Rice -Salad
-Fruit Salad -Banana Ice Cream

We have so much leftover we won't need lunch nor dinner for the rest of the week! After the potluck, we had a sleepover with the local interns. We played silly games like Never Have I Ever and Truth or Dare. Then, we had the banana ice cream and talked until we fell asleep.
