Day 1: Arrival and Settling In!

In front of our sexy car, Izzy, on our way to the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute. Our home for a month. Unfortunately, our GPS couldn't find the address, but luckily Google maps on Marissa's phone did........

Our home is part of a public non-profit organization that focuses on education, policy, and research in sustainable agriculture. Our site supervisor, Jerry, came to welcome us at the house and make sure we had everything we needed. After we moved into our huge house, we started looking through recipes to decide on our week's menu. We stopped at a dollar store and Piggly Wiggly to buy groceries and essentials for the house.
There is a small farm on the property where we can buy fresh vegetables for our salads and vegetable sides. We can buy FRESH chicken, duck, and goose eggs. We used the duck eggs to make scrambled eggs for breakfast. They tasted similar to chicken eggs, but had a slightly different consistency.
We got to pick strawberries! They were smaller than the strawberries from supermarkets but tasted so much better.

We went back home to cook our first dinner together -- pasta with olive oil and garlic sauce, homemade garlic bread, and salad with homemade dressing.

By the time we finished the dishes, it was 10:30. We showered and after Marissa went to bed, the rest of us played cards.
